Wild Atlantic Learning case study
Company background:
Wild Atlantic Learning offer travel, education, cultural learning, exploration, experiential learning, exercise, outdoors, personal development and well-being to the international tourism industry with sustainable and responsible tourism at its’ core. They operate from the city of Derry and specialize in the organization of cultural trips for visitors and international schools.
Challenge:
The company wanted to develop VR content which would tell the stories of the myths and legends associated with their tours of the Isle of Ireland.
Solution:
In order to overcome this issue, Wild Atlantic Learning, made contact with North West Regional College (NWRC) Business Support Centre (BSC) who supported them through the InnovateUs programme which is funded by the Department for the Economy.
This provided 60 hours of 1:1 mentoring support from NWRC Creative and Digital Media Technical Consultant, Aaron McKeever, who provided upskilling in how 3D 360° video works, editing and optimizing, creating and adding animations to 3D 360 content.
Impact:
On completion of the project, the company successfully developed VR content for their Myths and Legends tours.
Feargal Doherty, Owner of Wild Atlantic Learning described the benefits of working with NWRC’s Business Support Centre via the InnovateUs programme: “Working with the North West Regional College was fantastic! Aaron was on hand to support and share my vision and idea for this project. The commitment and support matched my drive and I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the results.”
