NWRC and Carrowmena Activity Centre
Company Background
Carrowmena Activity Centre comprises of a budget hostel and outdoor activity centre housed in a former school and located 1.6 miles from the banks of Lough Foyle and 5.1 miles from Limavady. There is an array of both on-site and off-site activities include kayaking and canoeing, as well as camp crafts.
Challenge
Due to an increasing emphasis on the importance of networking online and the ability of how to use social media effectively for business, Carrowmena wanted to ensure that they were equipped with essential skillsets in relation to social media management and online marketing. They felt that they could do more in this area and would like to develop their social marketing campaign.
Solution
The nationally recognised OCN Level 2 qualification would be delivered over the course of six weeks and included both theory and practical based assessments. The course focused on marketing techniques for small to medium business and covered a multitude of areas including; social media management systems, multiple networks for business blogging, vlogging, trending topics, search optimisation and best practices for improving traffic increasing and over all engagement. Thanks to funding from the Department for Employment and Learning’s Skills Focus Customised Training programme, Carrowmena benefitted from a six-week OCN level 2 Exploring Social Media programme hosted at the NWRC. Over 15 local business owners were upskilled all aspects of social media management for businesses.
Impact
Carrowmena felt they have gained an understanding into social media marketing for business, and also how to raise brand awareness. This upskilling will help contribute to their social media marketing campaign.
