Dr Kevin Meehan
Kevin Meehan is a Technical Consultant at the North West Regional College, which involves supporting local businesses with innovative solutions in the area of IT/Computing. Computing is an exciting area with new developments taking place on a daily basis, Kevin prides himself on keeping well-informed of new and emerging technologies. This knowledge will help companies in all sectors stay ahead of digital trends and remain competitive in the 21st century.
Kevin graduated from the Ulster University with a BSc Honours in Computer Science and a PhD in Computer Science. He also holds PGCE in Further and Higher Education and is an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Kevin’s research interests include the areas of location tracking, recommender systems, context-aware mobile applications, eTourism and ubiquitous / pervasive computing. His PhD Research combined sensor/context data and intelligent techniques to provide a more intelligent recommendation in a mobile tourism application.
Through his eight years’ experience in various development environments Kevin has developed skills in several areas, including; C#, Java, Android Development, Universal Windows Development, ASP.net, SQL, XML, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS. These development skills are combined with industry standards, quality assurance and verification techniques to create robust digital solutions for clients.
