Emma Doherty

Emma is a Technical Consultant for Automation and Robotics Engineering based in our new Industry 4.0 Centre at NWRC’s Springtown Campus. She has recently joined the Business Support Centre team and with her passion and determination for engineering she inspires to grow and develop the new i4.0 centre.

Emma is responsible for operating and maintaining several pieces of equipment in the i4.0 centre including MiR 250 Autonomous Mobile Robot, Universal collaborative robot (cobot) UR10e and Festo Cyber Physical 8 (CP8) factory simulator. Along with working on funded programs such as Innovation Boost, Digitalisation Boost and Innovation Vouchers.

She graduated with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) from Ulster University after five years. Emma’s pursuit of excellence led her to embark on a year abroad, where she completed a second Masters in Mechatronic Systems at Augsburg’s University of Applied Sciences in Germany. This global perspective has enriched Emma’s understanding of mechatronics and automation, giving her a unique edge in her career.
