Company background

babadoh is the brain child of two brothers and avid pizza enthusiasts, Erol and Aslan Bucukoglu, who have spent time learning the craft of making the perfect Neapolitan pizza. Over time, they have lost count of all the makeshift plastic containers they have experimented with to retain that perfectly formed dough ball and after countless Google searches for ‘dough proving container’, ‘dough ball tray’, ‘dough ball solutions’ and still no fix, the two brothers decided to create their own solution in the middle of a global pandemic which aims to improve the lives of pizza enthusiasts.

Challenge

babadoh wanted to develop a silicone rubber proofing tray for home pizza making but required upskilling support in 3D CAD, prototyping and design for a silicone rubber manufacture.

Solution

To assist and make their idea a reality babadoh made contact with North West Regional College (NWRC) Business Support Centre (BSC) who supported them through the InnovateUs programme which is funded by the Department for the Economy.

NWRC Engineering Technical Consultant, Jonathan Steele, provided 60 hours of upskilling support in areas such as 3D CAD Modelling (Fusion 360) , CAM Programming and CNC Machining (Fusion 360) and Silicone Moulding.

Impact

On completion of the project with the support of the NWRC and InnovateUs programme the company was able to create 3D CAD and technical drawings which enabled them to produce a prototype which was then manufactured by a third party.
