Landmark Panels is a Limavady based start-up business that was set up by founder and entrepreneur Mark McConway to investigate the various usages of concrete. Mark comes from a construction background and has great knowledge of concrete and is aware of its strengths, weakness, shape and how to make it as light as he can.
Landmark Panels wanted to create a North-Coast landmark model of the Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne.
To assist and make their idea a reality Landmark Panels made contact with North West Regional College (NWRC) Business Support Centre (BSC) who supported them through the InnovateUs programme which is funded by the Department for the Economy.
NWRC Product Design Centre Manager, Philip Devlin and joinery lecturer Alan Starrs, supported Landmark Panels, provided upskilling in SolidWorks 3D CAD, file importing, converting to STL, mentoring on Aspire CNC CAD, importing STL files and converting to 2.5D, CNC machining and silicone mould box manufacture to help Landmark Panels take the next steps of their new product development.
On completion of the project with the support of the NWRC and InnovateUs programme Landmark Panels successfully developed a North-Coast landmark model of the Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne.
Mark McConway, Owner of Landmark Panels, described the benefits of working with NWRC’s Business Support Centre via the InnovateUs programme: ‘’The InnovateUs programme gave me the encouragement and confidence to make an idea a reality.
