Challenge
Pickleberry Pop wanted to develop a fully enclosed 360 sensory room which will be used to calm young children with autism and learning difficulties as autistic children can find it difficult to engage in traditional play.
Solution
In order to overcome this obstacle, Pickleberry Pop made contact with North West Regional College (NWRC) Business Support Centre (BSC) who supported them through the InnovateUs programme which is funded by the Department for the Economy.
This provided 60 hours of 1:1 mentoring support from NWRC Creative and Digital Media Technical Consultant, Aaron McKeever, who provided training in project video mapping, spatial projection techniques and how to create specific video dimensions to display in high resolution in an enclosed space.
Impact
On completion of the project, Pickleberry Pop successfully developed a fully enclosed 360 sensory room which will be used to calm young children with autism and learning difficulties.
Future
Pickleberry Pop described the benefits of working with NWRC BSC via the InnovateUs programme: ‘’The upskilling received in areas of video mapping has allowed us to continue creating our own motion graphics to bespoke specification. We’re now in a position to scale up as we have developed a unique product that will allow us to gain a competitive edge over our competition.’’
