Arolco Engineering Solutions
Company Background:
Arolco Engineering Solutions was founded in 1974 in Victoria Bridge, Strabane employing a handful of local skilled locals. They initially specialised in conventional engineering and fabrication. Arolco identified a gap in the Irish & UK market to supply and manufacture polyurethane cast moulds and bought over a company who had experience with polyurethane. They are now based just outside Castlederg and set up their current headquarters with a manufacturing facility totalling 43,960 sq. ft with an expanding team of over 48 people.
Challenge:
They are currently growing their customer base in the Republic of Ireland and have much demand from across the waters into England, Scotland and Wales. They hope to be at the forefront of innovation, product development and leading the marketplace but in order to do this, they need to upskill and expand their current workforce.
Solution:
Amanda Logue was keen to drive the company forward in terms of staff development. Working with NWRC’s Business Support Centre via the Skills Focus programme she has undertaken:
- ILM Leadership and Management Level 3
This will give her the skills to effectively lead the business forward in terms of:
- Training needs
- Business Growth
- Marketing
Impact:
Amanda has grown the business in terms of staff and customers by applying some of the management techniques she has learnt through her course. She has connected with other businesses on the course and she is keen to challenge herself on more technical areas to enhance her industry knowledge.
Future:
Amanda also has identified other areas where NWRC can help them in terms of gaps in skills in Welding and considering taking on Apprenticeships for a pipeline of skills.
