JCM Training Services offers First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) courses that enables employers, employees and contractors to meet their obligations under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations (GB) 1981 and the Manual Handling Regulations 1992.
The company wanted to develop a unique training programme in the form of a virtual first aid training simulation.
In order to overcome this obstacle, JCM made contact with North West Regional College (NWRC) Business Support Centre (BSC) who supported them through the InnovateUs programme which is funded by the Department for the Economy.
This provided 60 hours of 1:1 mentoring support from NWRC Creative and Digital Media Consultant, Aaron McKeever, who provided upskilling in planning and storyboarding a virtual reality project, interactions for virtual reality, sizing the elements of a virtual reality scene and methods of monetizing for a virtual reality application.
On completion of the project, the company successfully developed a virtual first aid training simulation which provides guidance and visual instruction prompting users to identify safety hazards and demonstrate proper resuscitation.
Testimonial from JCM Training Services who described the benefits of working with NWRC’s Business Support Centre via the InnovateUs programme:
‘’I Joanne Murphy of JCM Training Services, wish to express my gratitude to Aaron McKeever of NWRC for the professionalism and support given to me throughout the development of VR for use within my presentations when delivering First Aid Training / Defibrillation Training.
”This has enhanced learning with all the groups that I deliver training to, especially those where English is not their first language. This VR bring a real life situation, into the classroom setting. Thank you Aaron, your input and help is so much appreciated.’’
