Little Treasures Day Nursery is owned and managed by Donna McLaughlin. It is Family Day Care Business based in Limavady with 28 members of staff. They currently provide care for 80 young children.
The company realised they had an increased number of children in their care that had several complex issues and their staff needed support to deal with this. Therefore, they decided that to overcome this obstacle their staff needed to enhance their skills and knowledge in more specialist areas of children’s care learning and development, including managing challenging behaviour.
As a result of this, the staff undertook a specialist Early Years Level 2 Award in Introduction to Mindfulness and Reducing Anxiety in Children.
By undertaking this course, the business has been able to deliver a better service of care and child development as well as helping the manager to promote her business as a forward-thinking day-care business. The Little Treasures Day Care staff are actively engaged with curriculum development and worked with NWRC regarding Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeships and Level 5 Childs Care Learning Development courses. They also worked with colleges curriculum team to develop sensory and growing garden.
