Company Background
Syenna is a hair and beauty salon located in Pump Street, in the city centre on Derry-Londonderry. The salon is high-end and offers a wide range of hair and beauty services. The company has plans for expansion into other outlets across the city.
Challenge
The company’s plans for expansion has led to the requirement for both leadership and management training to up-skill current middle-level management and develop the core management competencies required to progress to senior management roles.
Solution
The company would like to up-skill two key member of staff to develop the management capability and performance within the business. The company believe that through developing the core competencies this will support the company in its growth plans. Thanks to funding from the Department for Employment and Learning’s Skills Focus Customised Training programme, Syenna staff members benefitted from a twenty-six week ILM Level 5 Leadership and Management programme hosted at the NWRC. Over 15 staff members from local businesses upskilled on developing their skills experience, improving their performance and preparing for senior management responsibilities.
Impact
Syenna hair and beauty have recently appointed one of the staff members who undertook the upskilling to become the manager of their new outlet. They stated that that upskilling has developed the core management competencies across the business.
