Company background:
Tech Train X-R LTD was established in 2025 by Martin McNeill who has extensive knowledge in the areas of engineering. Martin set up his academy to provide specialised training in maintenance and engineering to prepare their clients for jobs in the oil and gas industry and offshore refineries.
Challenge:
Tech Train X-R LTD wanted to expand their traditional courses and develop new and innovative approaches to make their course material more engaging and learner friendly.
Solution:
To assist and make their idea a reality, Tech Train X-R LTD contacted the NWRC XR Hub team who supported them through the Department for the Economy InnovateUs Programme to develop a VR training tool.
NWRC XR Technical Consultant Aaron McKeever provided upskilling in Shooting & Preparing images, Capturing images using Stereoscopic of Monoscopic cameras, Preparing images with lightroom, HDR editing techniques, Stitching and image size reduction, Optimising content for VR and E-Learning, Importing images & adjusting settings, Creating interactive hotspots, Adding video hotspots, Using autopilot tools, Adding audio, lens flares, 3D objects and 2D elements, Adding floor plans, customising skins, Using E-learning tools and creating E-learning content, Testing and Publishing tours for offline use.
Impact:
As a result of undertaking this innovative project, Tech Train X-R LTD has developed a cutting-edge e-learning tool that offers immersive, interactive training and assessment experiences within realistic virtual environments, such as an oil refinery setting.
