Stephen Smith
Stephen Smith is a Technical Consultant at the North West Regional College and has 8 years 3D CAD and new product development (NPD) experience working across various sectors, including agriculture, automotive, renewable technologies, construction, and product design sectors. He also has experience in the quarry equipment sector including equipment for screening, washing and bulk handling of aggregates.
Stephen holds a BTech Honours in Mechanical Engineering (University of Ulster) Stephen has lectured in product design and engineering management and has undertaken academic mentoring on COP (Conformity of Production), CE marking and quality system implementation within various companies. He has also recently trained in Business Improvement Techniques acquiring Assessor status.
Stephen also has expertise in numerous CAD packages such as AutoCAD, Solidworks and Strucad. Within the Solidworks package he has the ability to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on complex assemblies as well as DFMA. Stephen has a strong understanding of the Fusion programme and managing technology transfer projects between industry and academia. Stephen has previously managed Fusion and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) and has delivered several innovation voucher projects.
