Company background:
Airporter was established in 1997 and introduced a brand new concept of travelling to and from the airport within Northern Ireland. This included the Belfast International Airport, George Best Belfast City Airport and later the City of Derry Airport.
With a cocktail of transport and technological innovation, coupled with high levels of customer service, Airporter has established itself as a recognised private sector champion of public transport.
Challenge:
Airporter wished to develop a virtual reality tour navigational tool however they required support to develop this.
Solution:
In order to overcome this obstacle, Airporter made contact with North West Regional College’s (NWRC) Business Support Centre (BSC) who supported them through the InnovateUs programme, funded by the Department for the Economy (DfE)
This provided 60 hours of 1:1 mentoring support from NWRC Creative and Digital Media Consultant, Aaron McKeever, who provided training in creating a 360 VR tour and editing VR footage.
Impact:
On completion of the project, Airporter successfully developed a virtual reality tour navigational tool.
A spokesperson from Airporter described the benefits of working with NWRC BSC via the InnovateUs programme: ‘’Airporter required a navigation tool for our clients to upload to the company website to enhance their experience. Aaron worked with us this morning to set and deliver the brief and create the navigation tool.
‘’Aaron was easy to work with, communicated with us at all stages and was receptive to feedback. The navigation tool that we developed offered more than we expected and we hope it will prove useful for our customers.’’
