Challenge:
In 2015, McColgan’s announced the creation of 43 jobs in County Tyrone following an investment of £7.3m. They were growing at a fast pace and realised that training was a key part of that. They first assessed their customer facing skills and decided to start with this. However to support their growth they needed clear leadership and management skills.
Solution:
The company decided to upskill their customer facing staff of whom undertook a Customer Services course in 2019. The companies team leaders and managers also completed their Level 3 and Level 5 Leadership and Management Training. Their senior HR team also completed a CIPD Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management this year.
Impact:
By undertaking these courses, the learners achieved the knowledge required to enhance their communication skills to effectively understand customer’s needs, increased the productivity of their workforce and encouraged strategic thinking at this level of management to foster business improvement. NWRC continue to work and support them in their continuous improvement in services and management skills. Recently, NWRC have agreed a bespoke ILM Management Level 3 course focusing on Coaching and mentoring.
