To solve their dilemma Kee Fruit got in touch with the North West Regional College (NWRC) to see if anything tailored to their specific need could be cater for. NWRC were able to support Kee Fruit through the Innovate US programme, funded by Department for the Economy (DfE), which equated to 60 hours of mentoring support from Dr Kevin Meehan, NWRC ICT/Software Development Technical Consultant.
Dr Kevin Meehan devised an intensive training plan to upskill three members of Kee Fruit2Go staff, which involved specific training on Design and Initial Prototype of Mobile App, Data design and development and Content Management System Design.Impact
On completion of the project, Kee Fruit 2 Go had develop the necessary skills to develop a mobile Application that restaurants, bars and cafes will use for ordering products, a fully functional ordering System and prioritisation of distressed stock to reduce this wastage.
The company have invested significantly in high specification technology to ensure the new distressed Food Platform can be used by staff to access and use the Content Management System. They have also invested in mobile/tablet devices to allow staff to view orders when loading/unloading the van with products.
