Company background
The North West Restaurant Guide (NWRG) are a Northern Ireland based company that operate services in and around Derry, the Causeway Coast and Donegal. They currently provide information about local restaurants via their website. The company are looking to create an innovative app that will provide information automatically using proximity beacon technology.
The current staff and developers struggled with the web technologies to develop such a product and needed a knowledge provider to be able to support the development of this new cross platform application which would enhance the NWRG customer experience.
To overcome this, NWRG successfully applied and secured an Innovation Voucher from Invest NI, which equated to £5000 expertise and support, which NWRG redeemed at The North West Regional College (NWRC). Lead by Dr Kevin Meehan, NWRC ICT Consultant, Kevin worked closely with NWRG to develop design concepts, wire framing of the prototype development and the functionality of the geo-fencing technology to maximise the user experience.
The proposed mobile application will allow customers to view restaurants by category, view restaurants by distance and search offers, with the added benefit of a real time boking system and redeemable voucher feature.
On completion of the project, NWRG had a fully functioning cross platform app, across Android and iOS software that can be downloaded and used by customers. To date NWRG has reported an increase in downloads and bookings, resulting in sales increase for the business.
