Experts from a Coleraine Dental Laboratory have developed a revolutionary new anti-snoring device, with help from North West Regional College’s (NWRC) Business Support Centre (BSC)

Coleraine dental laboratory, CinchORTHO owned by husband and wife William and Judy Purvis have developed two anti-snoring devices designed to prevent snoring, and in more severe cases, sleep apnoea.

CinchORTHO’s anti-snoring devices, under their Soundly brand, work by gently holding the jaw forward in an open position which promotes a steady flow of air through the mouth thus making for a better night’s sleep.

A new wave of learning is emerging at North West Regional College (NWRC)

Post A-Level students, students who have undertaken Level 3 qualifications, and those currently in employment looking to upskill into a new role, are being given the opportunity to take part in a major employment initiative in the North West that allows them to jointly study and work in paid employment in their chosen profession as part of the Higher Level Apprenticeship (HLA) programme.

NWRC offers HLA courses in Accountancy; Software Development, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, International Hospitality and Tourism Management, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Leadership for Children’s Care, Learning and Development.

A local engineering company has developed an innovative new lifting device with help from North West Regional College’s (NWRC) Business Support Centre (BSC)

Globaltec NI, based in Derry~Londonderry, sought help from NWRC BSC to create a unique lifting device (A-frame) which can lift 2000kg (2 tonnes) and fit through doorways as small as 600mm (2ft),  as most lifting devices are unable to get through doorways less than 1500mm (5ft).

The unique device was developed with support from NWRC’s Product Design Centre who provided 60 hours of one to one mentoring and training to the company through the Department for the Economy’s Innovate Us programme.

A Technical Consultant at North West Regional College’s (NWRC) Foodovation Centre has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Northern Ireland Food and Drink Awards (NIFDA).

Karen Marran said she was delighted to be named as a finalist for her Outstanding Contribution to the Food and Drink sector.

She said: ”When I found out I was named as a finalist I was shocked but delighted.

North West Regional College (NWRC) has held a successful Business Breakfast event at its Strabane Campus as part of Derry-Strabane Enterprise Week.Business owners, entrepreneurs and politicians from West Tyrone and the wider area were amongst those who turned out for the event, which was hosted by the college’s Business Support team (BSC), at the Campus’s Learning Resource Centre.
